Associating a Software Build with Defects
You can manually associate a software build with one or more defects that were either reported in or submitted with the build. The defects can reside in second-party and third-party defect-tracking systems such as Integrity Defects or can reside locally within Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software. The reported defects are typically created as assignments and are tracked as a part of overall Software Development Life Cycle. You can view the associated defects in the Associated Defects table on the software build information page. You can also disassociate defects from a software build.
To associate or disassociate the defects with a software build, perform the following steps:
1. On the software build information page, click the Changes tab. The Associated Defects table appears on the tab.
2. Using the Actions list or the Actions toolbar of the table, you can perform the following actions to associate or disassociate defects:

Associate New
Associates one or more new defects with the software build.
Disassociate Defect
Disassociates defects from the software build.
New Defect
Opens the New Defect window to create a software defect.
Update Defect Associations
Automatically associates defects with the software build.
The Build Version attribute determines which defects are going to be associated this build object. For attributes information, refer to the Attributes section of the Set Attributes step in Creating a Software Build.
The defects are populated in the Associated Defects table under the following columns:
Column Name
Description
Number
The defect number created in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software.
Remote ID
A label assigned to the defect by the third-party defect-tracking system. It can be any alphanumeric value.
Name
The standard name created in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software against the associated remote defect.
Association Type
Indication of whether the defect is reported in the build or submitted to the build.
Object Type
The type of the associated object, that is, a defect.
State
The current state of the defect.
Assignee
The user name of the resource who is assigned to fix the defect.
Created By
The name of the resource who created the defect. If the association was created using the Update Defect Associations action, the value System is displayed in this column.
Description
The description of the defect type.
Context
The context within which the defect is created.
