Installation
Ensure that all the client prerequisites are met before you begin the Creo Packages client installation; otherwise, the installation may fail.
To install the Creo Packages client, perform the following steps:
1. Set environment variables:
Ensure that the Java information is available in the system path. Add the location of JDK bin directory to the PATH environment variable. This appears in your PATH before the location of any other version of Java.
64-bit environments only: Add the PRO_MACHINE_TYPE environment variable and set the value to x86e_win64.
2. Insert the Creo Packages client CD in the drive and do one of the following:
If the PTC window appears automatically, click OK.
If the PTC window does not appear automatically, browse the Creo Packages client CD and locate the setup.exe file in the CD_WPCCLIENT directory for your language. To open the PTC window, double-click the setup.exe file. The PTC window opens. Click OK.

If autorun is enabled, the setup.exe file with your operating system language runs automatically. If autorun is not enabled, you must locate and open the setup.exe file in your language-specific client installer directory.
3. The Before You Begin window opens. Review the installer instructions. When finished, click Next.
4. In the License Agreement window, scroll down to read the entire license agreement.
a. To accept the license agreement, click the I Accept button. Click Next.
b. To decline the license agreement, click the I Decline button. The message window, “Are you sure you want to decline this license agreement” opens.
a. Choose the No button to return to the License Agreement window and accept the license agreement.
b. Choose the Yes button to decline the license agreement. The installer closes and a browser launches with further instructions on returning the software.
5. In the Specify Directory window, select the installation directory for the Creo Packages client.
a. The installer automatically chooses the installation directory.
b. To choose a different location, click Specify a different directory and then click Browse to browse and select the installation location.
c. Click Next.
6. In the Specify Windchill system URL window, enter the URL of the Windchill server in the Windchill Host URL field and click Next.
7. In the Specify Applications Details window, click the Creo selection box. Click Next.
8. In the Specify Installation Directory window, select Creo and then click Next.
9. In the Specify JDK installation location window:
a. Click Choose to browse and select the location of the JDK installation directory.
b. To restore the default folder, click Restore Default Folder button.
c. Click Next.
10. In the Specify Baseline Folder Path window, select the baseline folder path. The baseline folder is the root folder or any of its sub-folders in the Windchill commonspace.

You must specify the destination folder for the creation of export and import baselines in Creo Packages.
You must update the wpc_preferences.txt file with the baseline folder path before you begin using Creo Packages. See Setting Export Preferences, Setting Import Preferences, and Incremental Packages Support.
a. For Windchill PDMLink systems with Windchill ProjectLink installed, the baseline folder path format is the following:
/<Org Name>/<Product|Library|Project>/<container name>
//<folder1>/<folder2>/>/
b. For Windchill PDMLink systems, the baseline folder path format is the following:
/<Org Name>/<Product|Library>/<container name>//
<folder1>/<folder2>/>/
c. Click Next.
11. In the Specify if bootstrapping is to be performed window, determine if bootstrapping should be part of the installation procedure.

Bootstrapping is required as part of the client configuration, but can be performed after the installation is completed. For instructions, see Bootstrapping the Client.
If bootstrapping is performed as part of the installation, the bootstrapping procedure automatically begins upon the successful completion of the installation.

If bootstrapping is performed as part of the client installation, the Windchill bootstrap loader is downloaded automatically
If the bootstrapping procedure fails, exit the procedure. Ensure that the Creo Packages server component is installed and configured correctly and the Windchill server is up and running.

If you want the installer to bootstrap the client, the Creo Packages server component must be installed and configured correctly and the Windchill server must be up and running.
a. Select Yes if you want the installer to perform the bootstrapping configuration as part of the installation.
b. Select No if you do not want the installer to perform the bootstrapping configuration as part of the installation.
c. Click Next to continue.
12. In the Review Settings window, review the information you have provided for the Install Folder, Install Set, Product Components, and Product Name, and Windchill URL attributes.
a. If you need to make changes, click Back.

If the cancelation occurs now, no changes have been made to the system. If you cancel during the actual installation, any configurations already made to the system cannot be undone.
b. Click Install to start the installation.
13. When the installation is complete, do one of the following:
a. If the installation is successful, the Installation Complete window appears where Creo Packages client is installed.
The log files for the installation are located in the <Client Installation directory>/installer/logs folder:
WPCCLIENT_PtcInstall.log
WPCCLIENT_InstallLog.xml
b. If the installation fails, error messages and the name of the log files appear. The log files can be helpful in determining the cause of the failure.
c. Click Done to close the Installation Complete window.
14. After the installation is complete, the following significant directories and files are created in the installation folder. Do not delete or move the directories or files to another location.

Files:
wpc_preferences.txt
This file is used to set export and import package preferences and conflict resolution options. For detailed information pertaining to the wpc_preferences.txt file, see Exporting Packages and Importing Packages.
log4j.properties
In case of problems while working with Creo Packages, PTC Technical Support may ask to update the log4j.properties file that creates the wpc.log file. These files are used as a resource for problem resolution.

There is no need to change the contents of this file, except under the direction of PTC Technical Support.
ObjectTypeDefinitions.txt
You can specify the object type relationship in this file. If you have created a new object type in PTC PDS and want to export this object, you must update the ObjectTypeDefinitions.txt file.
If you want to exchange the secondary content for a new object type, you must add the object type to the ObjectTypeDefinitions.txt file. Using this file you can also change the category of the secondary content for exchanging the data. See Supported File and Object Types.

The samples directory contains the mapping and recipe folders.
