Options and Variants: Administrative Management of Default Filters When Creating Variant Specifications
User Interface Location: Part Structure Browser and Product Family Structure Browser
Product: Windchill
Release: 12.1.0.0
Benefit
Provides the ability to set the default filter mode that must be used when creating variant specifications, and to control whether users should have the ability to change the default filter mode.
Additional Details
In this release, a new preference Variant Specification Filter Method is introduced under the Options and Variants group. This preference allows a site to set the either Standard or Alternate as default filter mode when creating or modifying variant specifications. Also, this preference allows the site administrators to determine whether users, with the appropriate entitlement, should have the ability to change the filter method.
The following are the values of this preference:
Default Filter Method: Allows you to set the default filter mode to be used when creating a variant specification — Standard or Alternate. The default value is Standard.
*
The preference is available when the Windchill Platform Structures module is installed. When the preference is unavailable, the default filter method is set to Standard with the user selection of the filter mode enabled, by default, and is available for users entitled to set the filter method.
The ability to set the filter model is an advanced capability subject to a separate license entitlement.
Enable User Selection: When the value is set to Yes, enables users to change the filter mode to the value that is not set to the default. When the value is set to No, the ability to change the value is not enabled for the user. The default value is Yes.
*
Existing variant specifications are not impacted by these preference values. When the variant specification is modified, the preferences will be considered when explicitly changing the filter method.
