Preparing Windchill Business Reporting for Upgrade
Upgrading Windchill Business Reporting requires some preparatory steps for Cognos. Perform the following:
1. Take a dump of the Cognos schema from the source server.
2. Import the Cognos dump into a new Oracle SID or SQL Server instance.
3. Export the Cognos configuration setting from the source system.
a. Open the IBM Cognos configuration tool on the source system.
b. From > and save it as cogstartup.xml.

The exported cogstartup.xml file contains unencrypted passwords, so ensure that the location you save the file to is secure.

Adding the Default Administrator to the Cognos System Administrator Role
Following steps are required to be performed before target system installation starts. On source installation, it is required that the system administrator is added to the Cognos system Administrator’s role.
1. Log in to source Cognos system as an administrator. PTC recommends that you use Internet explorer for this task.
2. Browse to Administration Console.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Navigate to Cognos section for Users, Groups, and Roles.
5. Click > .
6. Add administrator credentials as referenced in wt.cognos.admin.uid in db.properties file.
