Updating Downstream Occurrence Positioning in Associative Structure Browsers
In cases where a design team repositions components in the upstream structure of a product, it is important for the manufacturing team to be made aware of such changes so that positioning can be synchronized for equivalent occurrences in the downstream structure. In associative structure browsers, once an “out-of-position” status is determined for one or more downstream occurrences, you can update the positioning information based on the current position of their upstream equivalents using the Update Position action.
Using Reconciliation Assistance
You can determine the current status of downstream occurrence positioning by:
1. Selecting one or more valid nodes in the downstream structure to check (only WTParts and related resource objects).
2. Launching Reconciliation Assistance
from the middle pane.
3. Selecting the Out-of-position criteria, and performing a discrepancy search.
4. Noting the highlighted occurrences in the discrepancy search results table (if any) that are in need of a positioning update.
Updating the Position of Downstream Equivalent Occurrences
1. In the downstream structure, determine and then select part occurrences whose positioning needs to be updated.
For more information, refer to the previous section Using Reconciliation Assistance.
2. In the downstream structure pane toolbar, click
and select
Update Position from the menu.
All selected part occurrences out of position are updated based on the current position of their upstream equivalent.
| Use the upstream and downstream Visualization tabs to perform a quick visual check of the occurrence position updates. |
3. Using Reconciliation Assistance, re-launch the discrepancy search for Out-of-Position to verify that both upstream and downstream part structures are now synchronized with regard to position.
