Installing Oracle Server Software
PTC recommends that you install the Enterprise Edition without any other optional components. While you can choose to install the full version of Enterprise Edition, it comes with many product components that are unnecessary when working with a Windchill server.
The following procedure describes the recommended approach of installing Enterprise Edition using the Custom option.
These instructions apply to Windows and UNIX installations. See the Oracle documentation for operating system-specific requirements. Complete the following steps to install the Oracle server:
1. Before initiating the installation, stop any running Oracle products. In particular, shut down all Oracle local services.
2. Insert or mount the Oracle Database DVD.
3. Run setup (Windows) or runInstaller (UNIX).
4. If you have a My Oracle Support account, you could enter the information here; otherwise, it is optional. Click Next to continue.

If you have not entered an email address, click Yes on the Email Address Not Specified popup window.

6. Select Single instance database installation and click Next.
7. The default language is English. Select the language for your database and click Next.
