System Compatibility and Requirements
The system requirements to integrate Windchill with external systems such as Windchill RV&S, Windchill Modeler, or IBM Rational Doors NG are:
Windchill
ThingWorx platform with Flow, OSLC connector, and Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) setting
External OSLC Server
For compatible release versions of these applications, see the Windchill Software Matrix on Reference Documents.
*
You need administrator permissions to gain access to the above systems to perform the integration.
Windchill Properties
Windchill properties are available in the <windchill>\site.xconf file. Specify the required values for these properties. Use the xconfmanager utility to propagate the changes in the site.xconf file.
1. Run xconfmanager -p
2. Restart Windchill server.
Property Name
Default Value
Description
Example
com.ptc.twx.host
No Default
ThingWorx Flow server is the host.
thingworx.ptc.com
com.ptc.twx.port
No Default
TCP/IP port to which ThingWorx connects for direct server-to-server HTTP requests from Windchill.
443
com.ptc.twx.protocol
No Default
TCP protocol which Windchill should use to connect toThingWorx host when ThingWorx is installed in standalone mode. Default protocol Windchill uses is http.
https
Based on the sample values specified for the above mentioned properties, the URL created would be in the format https://thingworx.ptc.com:443/thingworx/composer. Similarly, when you specify values for these properties, per your system setup, make sure the output URL is valid when accessed from your browser.
Types and Attributes
In the Type and Attribute Management utility of Windchill, the modeled types and soft types available out-of-the-box are:

In the Type and Attribute Management utility, you can create soft types for Requirement External Resource and Architecture External Resource modeled types.
The relationship constraint for the soft types Satisfy, Allocate, and Implement for parts, options and choices are available out-of-the-box. However, to add trace links to their child types, create a relationship constraint on their child types.
