Subscribing to be Automatically Notified When an Illustration is Updated
Arbortext IsoDraw users can create an “Illustration Source Data Update” subscription event in Windchill to be automatically notified by email when an illustration is updated in Windchill.
Subscribing to Illustration Source Data Update
You can create a subscription using one of the following procedures in Windchill:
Select Subscribe from the right-click actions menu of an object, folder, or context.
From the Folder Contents table in Windchill, first select the checkbox next to the folder or object to which you want to subscribe, and then select Subscribe from the table Actions menu.
Navigate to the information page of an object, or select Details from under Products, Projects, Programs, or Libraries. From here you can do one of the following:
From the Actions menu, select Subscribe.
or
Navigate to the Subscriptions table, and click the subscribe icon on the table toolbar.
The Subscribe window divides the subscription process into the following steps:
1. Identify Events—Define attributes, such as the subscription name and events. See Identify Events in the Windchill Help Center.
2. Select Subscribers—Define the users, groups, and organizations you want to receive notifications. See Select Subscribers in the Windchill Help Center.
3. Define Subject and Expiration—Define additional information that you want included in the email notification. This step displays a Find button next to the Types field. Clicking Find opens the Find Type window, where you can select additional object types. Selecting one or more object types expands the list of events to include those applicable to all the selected object types. In this case, select the Illustration Source Data Update object type. Refer to Identify Events in the Windchill Help Center.
For detailed instructions and to learn more about subscriptions, refer to the Windchill Help Center under Windchill Fundamentals > Collaborating with Others > Subscriptions.

Subscribers only receive notifications for objects to which they have access.
Once you have subscribed to the “Illustration Source Data Update” subscription event, Windchill automatically notifies you by email when a CAD source file has been updated in Windchill.
A typical use scenario would be for a technical illustrator to be notified by Windchill when the CAD source data of their original illustration has been modified in order to know when their illustration might be out of date. This allows the illustrator the ability to update their local version of an Arbortext IsoDraw illustration that has the source CAD data document managed in Windchill.
For example, the illustrator might create an illustration by importing into the illustration a Graphic Dynamic Document (GDD) from Windchill. At some later time, the CAD model for the GDD may be updated and iterated which might lead to the re-publication of the GDD. Although the illustration has not been iterated, the original author would like to know that this illustration is now out of date and may need to be updated to reflect the new CAD/GDD graphics.
Managing Existing Subscriptions
The Subscriptions table lists existing subscriptions. The information and actions available in the Subscriptions table vary depending upon its location and the view to which it is set. From your Home page, select Customize > Subscriptions. From here you can view all your subscriptions, including folder and context subscriptions.
Navigate to an object information page, or select Details from under Products, Projects, Programs, or Libraries. On the information page, select Customize > Collaboration > Subscriptions. From here you can view all subscriptions to the selected object or context.
