iAssembly Factories as Windchill Family Table Objects
Autodesk Inventor iAssembly Factories is the Inventor equivalent of WindchillCreo Parametric Family Tables for assemblies. PTC currently supports iPart Factories as Family Tables, and beginning at Windchill 10.2, this support is extended to iAssembly Factories.
iAssembly Factories can be used to create variations of assemblies. With the Windchill 10.2 enhancement, the iAssembly factory and its members are created as Windchill Family Table objects, which maintains the correct relationship between the iAssembly Factory and its members, and conforms to the same behavior as other Windchill Family Table objects. This enhancement also addresses the issue where instance uniqueness in iAssembly Factories is defined as the generic plus the instance name.
The functional behavior of iAssembly Factories is the same as that of iPart Factories. See Managing iPart Factories for Autodesk Inventor for details.
