Rules for Adding Part Family Objects to a Workspace
Consider these rules for using Add to Workspace:
Any family member can be individually selected for Add to Workspace. For example, you can choose to add the top-level generic or a single instance to the workspace.
If you add an instance to the workspace, the generic is included as a required dependent.
*
Although you can remove the generic from the check-out list, Autodesk Inventor requires a generic in order to open an instance.
The iPart instances are added to a subdirectory of the WFS Workspace that has the name of the generic with no extension.
