Creating a Graphics Dynamic Document or Graphic Information Element
As of this release, you can create a graphics dynamic document from the workspace using the File > New > Graphics functionality.
Windchill offers two dynamic document subtypes specialized for graphical file content.
A graphics dynamic document is a general type, primarily for managing images through the workspace. Graphics dynamic documents are created by Arbortext Editor or by using the workspace File > New > Graphics functionality, and are stored differently from other dynamic documents.
A graphical information element dynamic document is commonspace-oriented. From a WindchillFolders page, a graphical dynamic document called a graphical information element can be created via the actions menu (Actions > New > Graphic Information Element). Graphical information elements are managed similarly to a graphics dynamic document.
Creating a Graphics Dynamic Document
To create a new graphics dynamic document from a workspace:
1. Click File > New > Graphics. The New Graphics Dynamic Document window opens.
2. Accept existing values or select new values in the following fields:
Object
Description
Product
Displays the name of the current product.
Type
Choose the object type. If subtypes are configured, you will be able to choose from a list.
CAGE Code
If your site has organizations configured, you might see an organization identifier, such as CAGE Code. If this field is enabled at your site, you can use the Browse functionality to find an organization ID.
File
Click the Browse button to navigate to the content file.
Name
The system assigns a default name for the new graphics dynamic document that is the name of the content file without its extension. You can enter a different name.
Number
If auto-numbering is enabled at your site, the system provides a value. If auto-numbering is turned off you are not able to create a graphics dynamic document in this user interface.
Location
Sets the location where the new textual information element will be stored.
Autoselect Folder means the system sets a default location.
Select Folder lets you choose a folder. Click the browse button to display the Set Location window, and set the location.
3. Click OK. The new graphics dynamic document is created and appears listed in the workspace from which you initiated the creation. Its object subtype is PUB_GRAPHIC.

The system always auto-generates a File Name for the object.
Creating a Graphic Information Element

If no templates exist, No Templates Available is displayed and you can upload your content file using the pane that appears, containing:
