Bootstrapping the Client
If you chose to bootstrap the client during the Creo Packages client installation, you are automatically directed to the Windchill Bootstrap Setup window in the “Bootstrap the Client” procedure found in this section. If you are bootstrapping the client manually (after the installation) perform both procedures in this section.
*
After the initial configuration, this procedure is performed whenever the Windchill PDMLink or Pro/INTRALINK server is upgraded with patches or a maintenance release.
There are two steps to installing the client:
1. Download the server-specific information from the target Windchill server.
2. Configure Creo Packages to bootstrap the client.
Download the Windchill Bootstrap Loader
This procedure downloads and installs the bootstrap loader.
1. Open an Internet browser window.
2. Navigate to the following location on your Windchill server: http://<host name>/<Windchill_app>/install/.
For example, http://pds.ptc.com/Windchill/install.
3. From the Windchill Client Files window, select Windchill Bootstrap Loader.
4. Click Next. The Windchill Bootstrap Install window appears.
5. Click Next to select the bootstrap Java Archive (JAR) file (boot.jar) installation location.
6. Click Choose to select the home directory for the JDK used when installing the Creo Packages client. For example, <JDK_HOME>/jre/lib/ext.
7. Click Next. The Verify Installation Settings window opens.
8. Review the information that you have provided. If you need to make changes, click Back and change the required information.
*
If the cancelation occurs now, no changes have been made to the system, but if you cancel during the actual installation, any configurations already made to the system cannot be undone.
9. Click Install to start the installation. When the installation is complete, the Windchill Bootstrap Jar Installation Complete window opens.
10. Click Finish to close the Windchill Bootstrap Install window.
11. Confirm the boot.jar download file JDK installation directory. For example, <JDK_HOME>/jre/lib/ext directory

2. Create the bootstrap directory, if it is not already created in <WPC_HOME>. For example, c:\ptc\wpc\bootstrap.
3. Open a command window.
4. Go to <WPC_HOME>\bin. For example, c:\ptc\wpc\bin.
5. Run WPCbootstrap.bat. When asked for credentials, enter your Windchill user name and password.
6. The Windchill Bootstrap Setup window opens.
7. Click Browse to select the cache location for the JAR files. For example, c:\ptc\wpc\bootstrap.

If the cancelation occurs now, no changes have been made to the system. This procedure does not allow for you to cancel once you click OK for the download process to begin.
8. Click OK. The Windchill Bootstrap Download window opens.
9. Select the Download and inflate new file option.
10. Click Continue to download the JAR files to the bootstrap location. When the installation is complete, the Windchill Bootstrap Download Complete window opens.
