Generating Client Viewable
Client viewable creation is supported for CATIA V5 drawings. This feature is available in the cloud and on-premise versions of Windchill Workgroup Manager (WWGM). When connected with WWGM, CATIA V5 preferences can be set to generate 2D client viewable when a drawing is checked into Windchill. This feature enables you to share a view of your document with users who do not have CATIA available to them. The client viewable is displayed in Creo View, which can be printed or copied to clipboard or saved as a .zip file.
You can configure your workspace to save CATDrawing with its viewable. A viewable is generated and published when you initiate a Check In command. The client viewable generation is supported for CGM, PDF, and HPGL file formats.
You may also generate client viewable by using the THEOREM Worker. For more information about using THEOREM Worker, refer to Configuring the THEOREM Worker. For additional capabilities and functions, PTC recommends that you use THEOREM Worker.
Prerequisites
To generate client-side viewable, ensure that you perform the following prerequisite steps:
1. In the wgmclient.ini file, set the checkin.content.options preference to Models or Models and Viewables. For more information, refer to Frequently Used Preferences in the wgmclient.ini File.
2. The Windchill Workspace Check In Content Options preference lists the CATIA V5 option with value set to Models or Models and Viewables.
3. This configuration is optional. Specify a file format for the viewable and drawing type in the catia2pv.pvr recipe file as described below. The recipe file is located at <Windchill>\libs\i3libs\resources\recipe.
a. Define the output viewable of the CATDrawing by configure the following preferences:
In Adapter/OutputDrawingType,enter one of the following values to specify the viewable file format:
0 – Set the output format to CGM. This is the default format.
1 – Set the output format to PDF
2 – Set the output format to HPGL
For example, to set the file format to PDF, set the value as : adapter/outputDrawingType=1
In Adapter/SaveASingleFile, enter one of the following values to specify the output in single or multi-sheet viewable format:
0 –Multi-sheet viewable
1 – Single-sheet viewable
For example, to specify multi-sheet viewable format, set the value as: adapter/SaveASingleFile=0
*
By default, all viewables are displayed in a single-sheet CGM format. You can change the output viewable format by enabling one of the following options:
Multi-file option is enabled: For PDF output, Windchill saves viewable file in multiple PDF documents. For CGM and HPGL, Windchill saves viewable files in a single multi-sheet document.
Multi-file option is disabled: For PDF output, the viewable file is saved in a single multi-page document. For CGM and HPGL, only the active drawing viewable is saved in a single
*
You may also use Creo View Adapters Recipe Editor to select the drawing format options in catia2pv.pvr file. You can download the editor from the Creo View Adapters Recipe Editor page of PTC Support site.
