Rehosting a Windchill Environment
PTC provides the Windchill Rehost Utility for use when rehosting a Windchill environment.
Rehosting often requires the update of a test or development landscape configuration and corresponding datasets to account for a change in the system host name. The primary use case for rehosting includes the duplication of the production dataset back to test and development landscapes. This duplication is done to eliminate risk when validating new changes, as well as to minimize rework in test and development landscapes.
By using the Windchill Rehost Utility, administrators can easily update configuration details and data to reflect a change in key Windchill environmental constructs. The changes can include a change in the system host name, the Windchill installation directory, or the hardware platform.
For more information on rehosting, see the Windchill Rehosting Utility Guide supported with this release of Windchill, on PTC Support site.
