Creating a Remote Host
You create hosts, vaults, and folders for replication. You must create a host first, then a vault, and then folders.
A host is a machine on your network on which Windchill Method Server is running that can be used to store content files. Creating a host associates a site with a computer on the network. Because method servers may run on different hosts, each folder should have a different mount for each host. Otherwise, the paths might not necessarily be identical. However, the location for all mounts for a folder should be the same.
You create a remote host from the Vault Configuration window. To access this window, click Utilities > File Server Administration > Vault Configuration, available from Products , Libraries , and Site .
To create a host:
1. Select File > New > Host. The New Host window opens.
2. Enter the DNS name for the host in the Host Name field. (There cannot be any blank values in the name.)
*
The system does not verify that the DNS name that you enter is valid.
3. Select a site from the Site list.
4. Click OK.
