Creating a Custom Collector Category
Collector categories group the available plugins that can gather information from your Windchill environment. You can create a new custom category if the existing categories do not meet your needs.
*
When creating a category, you must select plugins from those plugins that are available. If you require a new plugin for a category that you are creating, create the plugin before creating the category. Additionally, you can edit categories that you have created. For details on creating new plugins, see Creating a System Configuration Collector Plugin
Use the following steps to create a custom category:
1. From the System Configuration Collector Categories table, click the new category icon .
The New Category window opens.
2. Enter text in the Name and Description fields to provide the name and description of the category that displays in the System Configuration Collector Categories table.
3. Add plugins to the category by selecting plugins from the Available Plugins table and clicking Add. Alternately, you can drag and drop plugins into the Selected Plugins table. You must add at least one plugin to a category.
To select multiple plugins to add at one time, you can use the standard SHIFT + click and CTRL + click mouse functionality.
The plugins that are added to the category appear as rows in the Selected Plugins table.
If you decide not to include a plugin that has been added to a category, you can remove it from the Selected Plugins table before saving the category. Select the plugin and click the remove icon to remove it from the Selected Plugins table. Clicking Remove All removes all plugins from the Selected Plugins table.
The View drop-down list on the Available Plugins table allows you to manage which plugins display in the Available Plugins table. For information on changing what is displayed in the Available Plugins table, see Using the Plugin View List.
4. Click OK to create the custom category.
