Adding a Vendor Part to the AML/AVL in Product Structure Explorer
Use this procedure to associate a vendor part with an OEM part.
*
You cannot associate vendor parts to manufacturer parts using the Product Structure Explorer. For this, use the AML/AVL link from the information page for the OEM part.
To add a vendor part to the vendor parts table:
1. In the Product Structure Explorer, select an OEM part to which you want to add a vendor part.
*
Check out the OEM part for this operation if you are logged in as a regular user.
2. Click the AML–AVL tab.
3. Select the sourcing context from the list located above the tables, or click Locate to search for additional sourcing contexts.
*
You cannot add supplier parts to the list if the sourcing context is set to All.
4. Click in the vendor parts table (bottom section) to add a part.
The Add Vendor Part window opens.
5. Select a part by specifying any of the following fields:
Context name – Select a product or library from the list, or click Locate to search for it.
Name or number – Type a name or number of the vendor part.
6. Click Search to search for parts.
7. Select a part from the Results list and click OK.
The part is added to the vendor parts table.
8. Specify the sourcing status for the part by clicking the cell for the sourcing status and selecting from the drop-down list.
