Configuring Numbering Schemes
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager parts, drawings, and model (MMPart, MMDrawing, and MMModel) objects that are exported to Windchill are assigned numbers that are generated as per existing numbering schemes for these types in the target contexts in Windchill.
If no numbering scheme exists (or if you want to customize the numbering scheme for these object types in the target Windchill contexts), you can create a new object initialization rule in Windchill.
Numbers for Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager object types (MMPart, MMDrawing, and MMModel) are generated through the object initialization rules defined for these types at the target context or at the parent-level context. If no object initialization rules are present for the Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager object types (MMPart, MMDrawing and MMModel) at the respective Windchill target context, then the rules defined for the parent object types (WTPart, WTDocument) at the target context (inherited from the parent level – Organization or Site – if not defined at target context level) are inherited to generate numbers. Windchill loads a default numbering scheme with autonumbering for parts and documents. If this scheme has not been disabled, numbers are generated from those rules.
For more information on customizing the numbering scheme, refer to Object Initialization Rules in the Windchill Help Center. If autonumbering has been turned off in Windchill for the object types being imported, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager has a default numbering scheme that can be used to assign numbers to such objects. You can customize this scheme by overriding the default implementation. For more information, refer to ‘<NumberGenerator>’ in the table in the Customization section.
