Creating and Placing Security Keys
The Site Management window displays site types in a table.
The table columns are titled M, R, and P. A plus sign (+) in one of these columns indicates the following:
Column
Indicates:
M
It is a master site.
R
It is a File Server site.
P
It is a peer site for product replication.
Update keys icon is available only for a master site or peer site. After a key is generated, Export key becomes available.
*
Product replication functionality is not available in this release.
To create and place a security key:
1. Select the master site.
2. Click to generate the key. Generating the key takes several seconds.
3. When the key has been generated, select the site and then click icon.
4. In the Save window, type a name for the key, navigate to location where you want to store the key, and save it as a file.
5. Copy the key file to the File Server site.
6. Close the Site Management window.
7. Make the key file known to the File Server site by editing the File Server site's wt.properties file using the xconfmanager. Note the following:
If only the replica services are running, edit the parameter wt.intersvrcom.masterSite.number of master site=URL of master site,location of key file to reflect the correct values.
This property might have multiple instances for different master sites. Each instance is distinguished by a separate number.
The numbers are sequential integers beginning with 1. A comma separates the master site URL from the location of its key file.
If services, in addition to replica services, are running, make changes by performing site administration on the File Server site.
8. Stop and restart the File Server site method server.
*
Each time you update the public key, you must copy it to every File Server site, and you must stop and restart each File Server site's method server.
