Managing Control characteristics using Tree Picker in Process Plan Browser
Linking a Model Item to a Control Characteristic for an EPM document
To link a model item to a control characteristic in process plan browser:
1. In the visualization tab area of tree picker, select a model item that you need to link to a control characteristic.
2. Simultaneously, select a control characteristic under an operation.
3. In the visualization tab of tree picker, select Link to Control Characteristic.
Creating a Control Characteristic Using Tree Picker
To create a control characteristic:
1. From the visualization tab area of the tree picker, select the model item for which you want to create a cc.
2. From the visualization tab toolbar of the tree picker, select Create Control Characteristic. The Assign In Process Control Characteristic dialog box opens. The dialog box displays the selected model item.
3. Select an option from the drop down list under Characteristic Number. Select:
◦ New if you want the control characteristic record to have the name, same as that of the model item.
◦ The existing control characteristic name if you want the control characteristic record to have the name, same as that of the control characteristic.
4. Click OK.
A record of the control characteristic is created.
You can perform the above actions for a related part, an allocated part and, an EPM document.
Cross Highlighting in Process Plan Browser
To highlight a control characteristic associated with a model item:
1. From the visualization area of the tree picker, select the model item.
2. From the visualization tool bar, select Select Standard Control Characteristic in Tree. The control characteristic related with the model item is highlighted in the process plan browser tree.
To highlight a model item associated with a control characteristic in the visualization tab area of tree picker:
• In the process plan browser tree picker, right click on the control characteristic record under part and select Select Model Items.
The model item associated with the control characteristic is highlighted in the tree picker visualization area.
