Defining a Quantity for Usage Splitting
When copying and pasting an eBOM part into an mBOM, the quantities and units of the eBOM parts are retained in the mBOM. For example, if five eBOM parts, with unit labels set to “Each”, are copied into the mBOM, the mBOM displays five new parts, also with unit labels set to “Each”.
In order to allocate some, but not all of the parts in a usage link to a given operation, you need to split the quantity-usage link. For example, you can have a part with a quantity of ten, but seven are needed for another operation.
*
Usage splitting can also be done by clicking the icon in the Tree Picker visualization toolbar of the Process Plan Browser.
The Usage Splitting window allows you to:
Enter a Quantity to keep on current part usage:
Select this option to define the number of parts that are to be retained on the current usage. Enter the number of parts to retain in the Quantity to keep field. The number of parts to be kept on the current allocation is also displayed. For example, if you have a part with a quantity of ten, and you enter three in the Quantity to keep field, the current usage total for the selected part changes to three, and a new usage link is created, with a quantity of seven.
Keep copied occurrences on current Part Usage:
Use this option to use the occurrences of a part that have been copied to the clipboard, as the quantity to be used for usage splitting. These copied occurrences are retained on the current part usage, while the remaining, un-copied occurrences are then used for a new usage link.
