Allocating a Control Characteristic to an Operation in the Process Plan Explorer
In a process, part, assembly, or system, a control characteristic is any functional feature or geometrical / material property that can be qualified, quantified or measured, and for which variation or deviation control is required.
To allocate control characteristics to an operation:

The control characteristics must already be created. For more information see Creating a Control Characteristic in an Explorer.
1. Select the operation that you want to use to allocate the control characteristic.
2. Click the Control Characteristics tab.
3. Click the allocate control characteristic icon .
The Allocate Control Characteristics window appears and the following tables are displayed in the Allocate Control Characteristics window.
Process Plan Control Characteristics:
Displays a list of all control characteristics that have been created for the process plan, but which have not yet been allocated to the selected operation.
Related Assemblies Control Characteristics:
Displays a list of all control characteristics that have been created for any part assembly that has been associated with the operation process plan. Part assemblies that have been associated with a process plan are displayed on the Related Tab.
Allocated Parts Control Characteristics:
Displays a list of all control characteristics that have been created for any part that has been allocated to the current operation, but which have not yet been allocated to the selected operation. Parts that have been allocated to the process plan are displayed on the Part Allocations Tab.
Operated On Parts Control Characteristics:
Displays a list of all control characteristics that have been created for all operated on part allocations for the current operation.
4. Select the control characteristics to allocate to the operation, then click OK.
