Client Software Configuration
This section contains the Eclipse adapter configuration steps that must occur after you have installed the Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software server software, the Eclipse software, and before you begin using the Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software system.
Installation Requirement for the Windchill Integration for Eclipse
Ensure that you have Java installed and configured for Windchill Integration for Eclipse.
1. Install Java on the same machine as the Eclipse client.
2. Go to the PTC software downloads page on the Windchill server and download the webservices-api.jar file.
3. Copy the webservices-api.jar file into the following Java directory.
%JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib\endorsed\
Replace the Existing Eclipse Adapter Jar files with the Windchill Integration for Eclipse Jar Files
Replace the existing Eclipse adapter jar files with the Windchill Integration for Eclipse jar files.
1. Start Eclipse and select Help > Install New Software.
2. In the Available Software window:
a. Select All Available Sites in the Work with field.
b. Select Collaboration in the Name field.
c. Select Show only the latest versions of available software in the Details section.
d. Select Group items by category in the Details section.
e. Select Contact all update sites during install to find required software in the Details section.
f. Click Next to continue.
3. The Install Details window displays the list of installation components. Click Next to continue.
4. In the Review Licenses window, select the terms of license and click Finish.
5. The Installing Software window displays the installation process.
6. When the installation is complete, restart Eclipse.
7. Shut down Eclipse.
8. In the Eclipse \eclipse\plugins folder, delete the existing Eclipse Adapter jars com.ptccore_1.* and com.ptc.ui1_1.* files.
9. From Windchill > Quick Links > Software Download, download the Windchill to Eclipse Integration software selection (eclipse-adapter.zip) to your machine.
10. Unzip eclipse-adapter.zip into the eclipse\plugins folder.
11. Restart Eclipse.
Set Up Eclipse to Work with Windchill Tasks and Assignments
Show the views for the Task List and Task Repositories. Then set up the PTC Assignments Repository and load the internal Eclipse browser to view the Windchill server.
1. Start Eclipse and select Open Perspective > Other.
2. From the Open Perspective window, select Planning and click OK.
3. From Planning, select Window > Show View > Task List.
4. From Planning, select Window > Show View > Task Repositories.
5. Click the Add Task repository button and select PTC Assignments Repository and click Next.
6. Enter the following values in the PTC Repository Setting window
a. The Windchill server location in the Server field.
b. The descriptive name of the Windchill server in the Label field.
c. The Windchill User ID in the User ID field.
d. The Windchill Password in the Password field.
e. Click Validate Settings.
f. In the Add New Query window, click Yes.
7. In the Add New Query window, click Yes.
8. In the Edit Repository Query window, enter a title in the Query Title field and click Finish.
9. The Synchronizing Queries window shows when the synchronization is complete.
10. In Task List, select the Windchill query root node by placing the mouse over the specific task to show its preview.
11. Right-click in the task and select Open with Browser to load the Windchill task review defect in the internal Eclipse browser.
12. You are now ready to work with Windchill tasks and assignments.
