Collecting Objects Associated with Parts Lists
When moving, deleting, or revising an object, you can elect to include any of its associated parts lists, illustrations, parts list items, BOMs, or content holders in the same action.
1. In the Move , Delete, or Revise windows, select the Advanced collection button Advanced collection from the toolbar.
2. The Advanced Add window opens. Different options are available in the window, depending on the type of object for which it was originally opened:
If the object is a parts list, refer to the Collect Related Parts List Objects section in the window. You have the option to collect four types of object related to the parts list:
Illustrations
Parts list items
BOMs
Content holders
These sections are only visible in the Advanced Add window if Windchill Service Parts is installed.
If the object is a part, illustration, or content holder, select the Associated Parts Lists option in the Collect Related Parts List Objects section of the window to collect the associated parts list.
3. Select the required object type or types then click OK. Any related objects of the selected types are displayed in the Object List table.
You can vary the display of the table with the drop down list at the top of it. The default display of the table is controlled by the Display collected objects preference, and its value is displayed as the title for the drop down list, for example As a List. Refer to Setting Service Preferences for further information.
4. Select the required related objects from the table. The selected objects are included when the Revise, Move, or Delete action is completed.
When saving a parts list as a new object, you can elect to include any of its associated illustrations. In the Save As window, select the Collect related Illustrations button Collect related Illustrations from the toolbar. Any illustrations related to the parts list are displayed in the object table. Select required illustrations from the list to include them when the Save As operation is completed.
The Include related illustrations preference controls whether illustrations are collected by default during a Save As action. Refer to Setting Service Preferences for further information.
Refer to About the Collector for information about the collector tool.
Refer to Collecting in Advanced Mode for further information about collecting related objects.
