Assigning of SolidWorks Component IDs
Previously, Windchill Workgroup Manager for SolidWorks assigned Component IDs in sequence, but these IDs were not persisted in the Assembly. Subsequent Save actions sometimes resulted in a change in the Component ID of existing components following editing (for example, adding or removing the component) done on the Assembly.
Beginning at Windchill 10.2 M030, once a Component ID is assigned during the first save to Workspace, the same Component ID is used for the same component in subsequent iterations. This provides greater consistency when assigning Component IDs.
When an assembly is edited, the Component ID remains the same as that of the existing component in the following scenarios:
Adding a Component
Removing a Component
Changing the configuration of an existing component
Replacing a SolidWorks Toolbox part with a different size part
Replacing an existing component with a new component
Any other component editing action
