Rules for Using Save and Save As
Prior to Windchill 10.1
There are two ways to create a copy of an iPart Factory:
In Windchill -- (This is the recommended method.) Use Save As with a generic model to create a copy of the iPart Factory. This creates copies of the generic and all instances.
*
Save As does not allow you to create a partial copy – you can only copy the entire iPart Factory.
In Autodesk Inventor – The Save As command only allows you to specify a new name for the generic, not the instances. Therefore, if you want to save a copy of the iPart factory, you must first edit the spreadsheet and give the instances unique names. You can then use Save As to create a copy of the factory that will, in turn, save the instances with the new names in the spreadsheet.
