If necessary, project managers can track assignment work on behalf of resources. From the Tasks table, select Track Work from the right-click actions menu of a resource assignment.
|
When tracking work by Resource Assignment, you may want to disable or hide certain attributes on the UI because these attributes might alter the Plan attributes which in turn could affect other fields in this workflow. These attributes are Remaining Work, Work, Estimated Finish, and Actual Finish attributes in Track Work, Track New Work, and Track Work for Selected Assignments windows, and Units, Work, and Estimated Finish attributes in Edit Resource Assignment window. Set the property com.ptc.projectmanagement.plan.disablePlanAttributesForResourceAssignment to true in wt.properties and propagate it using the Xconf Utility in Windchill. |
Actual Work % Work Complete | To track how much work you have completed: • Enter the number of hours you have spent on the activity into the Actual Work field. or • Enter a percentage into the % Work Complete field. When you enter a value into one field, the other is automatically calculated.
| ||
Remaining Work Work | To change how much work is necessary for the assignment: • Remaining Work—The number of work hours you still need to complete. or • Work—The number of work hours required to complete the assignment. When you enter a value into one field, the other is automatically calculated.
| ||
Estimated Finish | Indicates the date and time when the associated activity is scheduled to be completed. You can manually change this date to indicate that your work cannot be completed by the estimated finish date. If you set a date later than the estimated finish date for the activity, the activity duration is recalculated to adjust.
Actual Finish | Set this field to complete the activity. Otherwise, this date is automatically set when the % Work Complete value is set to 100.
Status Status Description | Select one of the following: • Green—Indicates that there are no risks or obstacles; ready to proceed. • Yellow—Indicates caution; check before proceeding. • Red—Indicates an alert of high risk; do not proceed. Optionally, enter a brief explanation for the status setting in the Status Description field.
| ||
Risk Risk Description | Identifies the probability that the work might not be completed by the due date. Optionally, enter a brief explanation for the risk setting in the Risk Description field. |
This step is only available when you are tracking work for a deliverable activity and tracking a single resource assignment. It is not supported for multi-user assignments. |
Open the Find Subject Objects For Activity window. From here, you can search for eligible object types. Only eligible objects appear in the Search Results table. Whether an object is eligible depends on the tracking policy you selected and the context of the plan activity: • Project activities—The subject object must be located within the same project context. This can include objects that are shared to the project from a PDM context. • Program activities—The subject object must be located within the same program context. • Product activities—The subject object can be located in any PLM context (for example, a product, library, or quality context). You cannot include objects located in projects or programs.
Remove selected objects.
Paste one or more objects from the clipboard. If you have ineligible objects included in your clipboard, only the eligible objects are added. An error message appears to alert you that ineligible objects have been rejected. |
Once an activity has been completed, you cannot add or remove subject objects. |
