Creating a Subproject

Only project or program managers can create subprojects.
You can create a subproject by clicking the new subproject icon on the Plan table.
The New Sub Project/Program window is divided into the following steps:
1. Under the Identify Sub Project/Program step, complete the following fields and then click Next:

Sub Project/Program
Select a project or program from the drop-down list provided. The options available in the list are those projects or programs of which you are either a participant or the owner. The default selection is None. This is linked as a child to the current project.
Sub Project/Program Name
Enter the name of the new subproject plan object. This field is required. If you have selected a subproject, its name is automatically entered in this field.
Sub Project/Program Owner
Select a team member from the drop-down list to be assigned as the subproject owner.
Due Date
Enter the date by which the subproject should be completed. Use the date format specified next to the field. (For example, if the specified date format is MM/DD/YYYY, the date could appear as 03/30/2005.) Click the calendar icon to select a specific date from the calendar.
2. Under the Choose Position step, complete the following fields and then click Next:

Append to Plan
Select Append to Plan if you want the subproject to be placed within the plan at the top level.
Insert in Plan
If you want the subproject to be inserted into the plan at a specific location, select Before, After, or As Child of. Then specify the ID of the plan object to which the subproject is to be connected. If you do not know the ID, click Select and choose a plan object from the provided list.
3. Under the Choose Notifications step, select events for which you would like to receive email notifications:

Status Change
Sets up notification of a change in the status of the subproject.
Percent Done Change
Sets up notification of a change in the percentage of completion of the subproject.
Estimated Finish Change
Sets up notification of a change in the estimated finish date of the subproject.
Turns Red
Sets up notification of a status change to red. Red is an alert of high risk. (Project or program manager only.)
Due Date Change
Sets up notification of a change in the due date of the subproject.
Missed Due Date
Sets up notification of the passing of the due date without subproject completion.
[x] Days Before Due Date
Sets up notification to alert when the specified number of days before the subproject due date remains.
[x] Days After Due Date
Sets up notification to alert when the specified number of days after the subproject due date has passed. This includes the number of days overdue.
State Change
Sets up notification of a change in the state of the subproject.
Owner Change
Sets up notification of a change in the owner of the subproject.
Object Deletion
Sets up notification of the deletion of the subproject.
Completion
Sets up notification of the completion of the subproject. (Project or program manager only.)
4. Click Finish to create the subproject.
The subproject is created and visible in the Plan table.
