Package Content
The package is an organized collection of objects that are managed as a cohesive set. The contents of a package, technical data package, CDRL package, or SDRL package are determined by taking a set of initially selected objects, applying certain collection rules to the set, and collecting related objects. The contents of a replication package are determined by the context or contexts in the Contexts table available from the New Package window.
You can alter the contents of a package by modifying the initially selected objects or the collection options. To do this, click the add to package icon on the toolbar of the Package Content table or select the action from the Actions menu on a package information page. For more information, see Adding Content to a Package or Adding Content to a Replication Package. The package contents can also be altered by selecting the Refresh action from the Actions menu on a package information page. The Refresh action re-applies the collection options to the initially selected objects, which may result in a change to the package contents.
Depending on the configuration of your site and the type of package, you can also apply the filters available from the Collection Options window from the Package Content table by clicking the edit filters icon . Applying the filters from the Package Content table rather than from the Add to Package window allows you to apply the filters to the current package contents without refreshing the package contents and re-collecting objects. This action can be available for all package types except replication packages. For more information, see Editing Package Filters.
Once a package has been locked, the set of objects identified with the package content can no longer be changed; that is, new objects cannot be added and existing objects cannot be removed. These objects can continue to evolve outside the package, but the locked package will always reference the object versions specified in the package at the time the package was locked. For more information, see Locking a Package.
