Defining Substitute Parts
A substitute for a part can replace the part only in a specific product structure, as opposed to an alternate, which can replace a part in every product structure.
To define a substitute part, use the following procedure:
1. Select the part that can be substituted for.
2. Select the Replacements tab.
3. In the Substitutes table, click .
A search window appears so you can search for the desired part.
4. Enter the criteria for the part attributes, and click Search.
Results are displayed.
5. Select the one or more parts to be used as substitutes and click OK.
The new substitute parts are added to the Substitutes table on the Replacements tab.
