Searching For Transactions
To search for one or more transactions use the following procedure:
1. Navigate to Enterprise Systems Transaction Administration, available from Utilities under Organization or Site.
2. Enter the search criteria upon which to base the search. You can search for transactions by several criteria:
By Wildcards
Within Object Types
By context
By user
By transaction date and status
Organization
3. Click Search.
*
To access all transactions from the current user, leave all fields empty and click Search.
The search results appear in the Search Results table.
Using Wildcards
Wildcards, entered in the Search For field, allow you to broaden your search. Without wildcards, search results are limited to the objects that exactly match the word or words you enter in the search field. The most common wildcard, an asterisk (*), indicates any word consisting of one or more characters.
For example, to match a Windchill document with the word "design" in the name, you would enter *design* in the search field. The asterisks indicate the word could be preceded or followed by one or more characters.
Results like the following would be returned:
Joe's design prototype
A Design For Development
Designing Engine Parts
The underscore (_) wildcard can be used in the keyword search. The underscore indicates that only one character can appear in that position. For example, to retrieve a document with the word "design" followed by one character only, enter design_ in the search field. Results like the following would be returned:
designs
DesignB
Wildcards do not function in fields containing a drop-down list.
Searching by Object Type
The Object Type field allows you to select a specific object type, such as parts or documents, for which to search. The default is to search for all objects.
Use the following procedure to search by type:
1. Click the drop down list next to the Object Type field. A list of object types appears:
Object Type Description
Relevant Windchill Object
Object Attributes Used for Matching Keywords
