Compare Documents
You can compare two different documents or two versions of the same document.
You can configure
Windchill Desktop Integration to use additional, third-party software comparison tools that support a wider range of file types. For more information, see
Desktop Integration Configuration.
Compare Document Versions
Compare two versions of the same document.
1. From the
Windchill tab in Microsoft Office, click
Compare. Desktop integration launches the native comparison functionality available in Microsoft Office.

The versions must be the same file type.

2. Select the versions you want to compare:
◦ Version selected—By default, this is the latest document version. If the document is checked out to you and a local version exists in your cache, then that version is selected by default.
To select a different version, click the radio button next to Version selected and highlight a version from the list below.
◦ Compare with Version—Ensure the radio button is selected and then highlight a version from the list below.
3. Click Compare.
4. An application window opens comparing the document versions. The window that opens depends on the file type and the comparison tool defined for that file type.
Compare Documents
Compare the latest version of two different documents.

Press the CTRL key to select two documents at once. The Compare Documents action automatically compares the selected documents.

2. Browse to the document you want to compare and click Open. This can be a local document or another Windchill document.
