Upgrading a source system that is configured in a SQL Server 2016 is not supported for Windchill 11.0 M020. You need to perform the Windchill Upgrade with SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2014.

After upgrading Windchill to 11.0 M020, the SQL Server 2012/2014 database can be upgraded or moved using the Backup & Restore Method to SQL Server 2016.
