Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management
If you are updating to this version of Windchill with Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management previously installed, ensure that the following pre-installation, installation, and post-installation requirements are completed.
*
Windchill RequirementsLink is no longer a PTC product. If Windchill RequirementsLink was previously installed, it will no longer appear as a Windchill installed component. Windchill RequirementsLink objects from a previously installed Windchill integration appear in this version of Windchill if you have Windchill Requirements Management installed.
Pre-installation Requirements
Use this topic as a guideline when updating to a newer version level of Windchill. This topic only covers pre-installation requirements pertinent to customers with Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management previously installed.
To prevent loss of data or corruption, verify that all Windchill objects are checked in before updating to a newer release or version level of Windchill.
As part of the update process, run the Detecting Issues in Specifications and Requirements task using the Windchill Diagnostic Utility (WinDU) to detect any issues for specifications and requirements residing in Windchill.
Installation Requirements
Use this topic as a guideline when updating to a newer version level of Windchill. This topic only covers installation requirements pertinent to customers with Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management previously installed.
Details for installing Windchill can be found in the Windchill Help Center under Installation and Upgrade > Windchill Installation and Configuration.
When you select either the Windchill PDMLink or Pro/INTRALINK product solution, Windchill Requirements Management automatically installs with the product solution selected.
Windchill Business Reporting must be installed as part of your Windchill solution to access Windchill Requirements Management reports. See Windchill Business Reporting under Optional Product Settings.
Post-installation Requirements
Use this topic as a guideline when updating to a newer version level of Windchill. This topic only covers installation requirements pertinent to customers with Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management previously installed.
Details for configuring Windchill and Windchill Requirements Management can be found in the Windchill Help Center under Installation and Upgrade > Windchill Installation and Configuration.
Windchill Business Reporting must be configured as part of your Windchill solution to access Windchill Requirements Management reports. See Windchill Business Reporting under Optional Product Settings.
Ensure that access to requirement objects are granted. See Command Scripts for Requirement Objects for instructions.
Part of the post-installation process for customers with Windchill RequirementsLink or Windchill Requirements Management installed, is to work with Abstract Specification and Requirement Types present in Windchill that need to be converted for Integrity integration. The Detect issues in Specification/Requirement types diagnostic task in WinDU, and the Fix Specification/Requirement Sub-types repair tasks in WinRU are mandatory procedures of the post-installation tasks.
Read and understand the topic, Working with Abstract Specification and Requirement Types Present in Windchill That Need to be Converted for Integrity Integration.
Run tasks in chronological order as follows:
1. Run the Windchill Diagnostic Utility (WinDU) that includes the task, Detect issues in Specification/Requirement types. This diagnostic task verifies default subtypes of Abstract Specification and Requirement types that are present in Windchill. It also detects additional subtypes available in Windchill which need to be converted for Integrity integration. See Detecting Issues in Specifications and Requirements for instructions.
2. Analyze the XML log file generated from running WinDU. Ensure all customized subtypes to legacy types converted to the latest data model during the Windchill upgrade. See Detecting Issues in Specifications and Requirements for instructions.
3. If any Windchill Requirements and Abstract Specification subtypes were not converted during the upgrade or update of Windchill, populate those subtypes by modifying and saving this content in the XML property file generated by WinDU. See Detecting Issues in Specifications and Requirements for instructions.
*
The Windchill Repair Utility task for the completed WinDU task when run implements all instructions, including any new or modified information from the XML property file.
4. Run the Fix Specification/Requirement Sub-types repair task using Windchill Repair Utility (WinRU). This task is a mandatory task for Integrity integration. See, Configuring Specifications and Requirements for instructions.
*
The Fix Specification/Requirement Sub-types repair task queries the list of newly added or renamed subtypes from the WinDU XML property file. It converts any customized specification and requirements subtypes. It also adjusts any old types according to the new data model mapping provided in the XML property file generated by running WinDU.
