On Windows platforms, the Windchill Directory Server is not installed as a Windows service; you will need to start the Windchill Directory Server every time you reboot the machine. On UNIX platforms, you will need to start the Windchill Directory Server every time you reboot the machine. You can generate a shell script to start, stop, and restart the directory server by using the command create-rc-script in the <Windchill>/server/bin directory. For example, enter the following command to generate a startup script:

where <start_WindchillDS_script> is the name of the script being generated.

To see a list of available options for use in generating the script, you can enter create-rc-script --help.

This startup script can be used to automatically start the Windchill Directory Server at boot time. The method to invoke this script at boot time varies by platform; if you do not have the expertise to set up this capability, contact your system administrator.
