The key component of the SAP adapter is the SAP JCo layer. The SAP JCo layer provides the APIs that are used by the adapter to move information into and out of SAP.

As previously discussed, the SAP adapter uses the SAP JCo interface to communicate with SAP. In the following architecture diagram, note that the adapter communicates with Info*Engine on one side and with the SAP JCo layer on the other; this provides a communication channel between Info*Engine and SAP:

The SAP JCo Layer provides the APIs used by the SAP adapter to communicate with SAP. The webjects that are available for use with the current release of the adapter require SAP JCo 2.1.x.
