Editing an Action Item

You can only edit an action item if you are the context manager, action item creator, or assignee. Update privileges for some fields might be limited by your administrator.
Navigate to the action item information page and select Actions > Edit. Or select Edit from the right-click actions menu in the Tasks table.
1. Specify the name, description, and other attributes of the action item:
Field
Description
Action Item Name
Enter a name for the action item. Enter up to 200 characters.
Assignee
The user responsible for the action item work.
Select a project member from the drop-down menu. If you leave this field blank, the action item is assigned to you by default.
If you assign the action item to someone other than yourself, you are still able to update the action item.
Description
Enter a brief description of the action item. Enter up to 4,000 characters.
Due Date
The date on which the action item must be completed. Click the calendar icon to select a specific date from the calendar and select a specific time using the drop-down menu.
The deadline is displayed in red when it has passed.
Priority
Priority levels are available from the drop-down menu.
Category
A business category that best describes the action item. This information can be used to search for action items.
State
The state of the action item:
Open
Assigned
In Work
Resolved
Obsolete
Done
The percentage of work that has been completed on the action item.
Status
Status Description
Select the status of the action item:
Green—Indicates that there are no risks or obstacles; ready to proceed.
Yellow—Indicates caution; check before proceeding.
Red—Indicates an alert of high risk; do not proceed.
Unavailable—The status is not set.
Optionally, enter a brief explanation for the status setting in the Status Description field.
Estimated Start
The date and time at which the action item work is scheduled to begin.
Estimated Finish
The date and time at which the action item work is scheduled to be completed.
Actual Start
The date and time at which the action item work begins.
Actual Finish
The date and time at which the action item work is completed.
Resolution
Enter a brief description of the resolution for the action item.
2. Click Next to specify additional attributes of the action item, using the fields defined by your site.
These fields represent customizable action item attributes that can be exposed, hidden, reordered, renamed, and designated as required to suit your needs. For more information, see Customizable Action Item Attributes.
3. Click Finish to create the action item.
