Moving a Domain
Use the following procedure to move a domain and all of its descendent domains in the Domains pane of the Policy Administration window:
1. Choose a domain to be moved.
If the selected domain can be moved, then the cut icon
activates in the
Domains table actions bar.
Cut is available in the right-click action menu for a domain that can be moved.
2. Click Cut. The selected domain and its descendants are cut. A cut domain’s text turns gray to indicate it will be moved.
3. Select the new parent domain for the cut domains.
If the domain can be moved to the selected domain, then the paste icon
activates in the
Domains table actions bar and
Paste activates in the right-click action menu.
4. Click Paste.
The domains are moved to the parent domain you selected.
The following rules apply when you move domains in the Policy Administration window:
• The Root (/) domain is the root of all other domains.
• The following domains in the Site context cannot be moved:
Root (/)
/System (Site)
/User (Site)
/Default (Site)
• You can move a domain higher in its current branch or to another branch in the domain tree. However, the new parent of the domain must either be in the same context as the cut domain or its parent context.
• If you move a domain with descendants, all the descendants are moved along with the domain.
• If you move a domain, the access control, indexing, and notification lists for the domain are recalculated using the domain policies of its new ancestors.
