Locking a workspace object gives it a read-only status in the workspace and in a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling session. You can lock as well as unlock an object, either from an active workspace in Windchill Workgroup Manager or the CAD application.
Additional Details
You may want to make an object read-only to:
• Avoid inadvertent modification
• Prevent the object from being saved
With Windchill Workgroup Manager for Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, users can locally modify models in the CAD session without checking out the models. However, if designers want to prevent such inadvertent or unwanted changes, they can set the Automatically lock objects added to workspace preference to Yes, so that checked-in objects are automatically locked in the Modeling session and the workspace.
From the Windchill Workgroup Manager client, you can individually lock instance or content objects to selectively prevent instance or content modifications, respectively.
