Top level instances in Windchill that are related to content objects which are modified in a Modeling session, can be automatically checked in with the modified content object. This ensures that Creo View representations for the related top level instances are regenerated by the Windchill Visualization Service, reflecting the correct geometry.
Additional Details
The behavior is controlled by the new Update Top Level Instances preference. Set to No (default) or Iterate. The Manage Top Level Instances preference has a new option, All, that allows you to request top level instance generation irrespective of instance data changes.
Previously, Creo View representations for top level instance objects were not updated when related content objects underwent changes such as geometry modifications. As a result, users only had the following options for reviewing objects with top level instances:
• Inspect the Creo View viewables of the instance objects, showing correct instance information (such as color or position), but with potentially outdated geometry.
• Inspect the Creo View viewables of the content objects, reflecting the content modifications correctly, but not using the instance information.
