Benefit
When creating a new CAD document, a new Same As Part Number checkbox in the New Part window enables you to synchronize the number of the CAD document with the base number of its related Windchill part. When selected (checked), the resulting CAD document number is set the same as the base number of the related Windchill part, with or without a file extension, based on a server-side preference.
Additional Details
If the Windchill preference Drop File Extension from Number is set to No (the default), then the file extension in the CAD document template (for example, .prt, or .asm), is included with the part number. Setting this preference to Yes drops the file extension.
