Enhanced Ability to Copy, Cut, and Paste in Manufacturing BOMs

The ability to modify BOM structures using Windchill MPMLink has been enhanced with improvements to how parts can be moved from upstream to downstream BOMs.

Cut and paste data in the context of a single tree (upstream or downstream) using Associative Structure Browsers. This allows users to continue to restructure BOMs until all data management expectations have been met, with the corresponding increases in productivity.

Typically, a manufacturing engineer uses an existing upstream, or design BOM to transform it into a downstream, or manufacturing BOM. Then, to restructure the downstream BOM, you can move (cut and paste) or duplicate (copy and paste) nodes from one parent to another. With Windchill MPMLink, restructuring nodes in a given tree in this fashion preserves the associativity between upstream and downstream objects, preserves usage information, and recalculates absolute positioning information in the 3D Mock-Up (if necessary).
