You can now configure Windchill file vaults to use Amazon S3 storage for your managed file data when Windchill is deployed in Amazon Web Services. You need to perform certain configurations through the command line tool to set up this capability. You can customize Windchill to save the content in encrypted format. To customize the encryption of content on Amazon S3 you need to write delegate implementations. You can migrate your existing Vault data to Amazon S3 during a migration to an AWS deployment. AWS Snowball service allows you to transfer large amounts of data to AWS using physical storage appliances.

To take advantage of Amazon S3 Vaulting capabilities, PTC recommends that you install Windchill main server and file servers on EC2 instances. Customer can choose to install the Windchill main server and file servers on premise; however, a combination of EC2 instance based Windchill installation and on premise Windchill installation is not supported for Amazon S3 Vaulting.
