Benefit

Oracle and SQL Server database support with Windchill has been updated to align with current release levels and functionality.

Additional Details

Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.2) is supported with Windchill.

SQL Server database support updates:

• SQL Server 2012 and 2014 both allow a database instance to use a different collation from the database master.

• Certain database columns have changed data types to align with SQL Server support and recommendations:

◦ The Windchill BLOB and InlineBLOB data base columns now use the varbinary(max) data type, replacing the image data type deprecated by SQL Server.

◦ The Windchill Date, Time, and Timestamp database columns now use the datetime2 data type, rather than datetime, following the SQL Server recommendation.

• SQL Server 2014 is now supported and bundled with Windchill PDM Essentials.

• SQL Server 2008 R2 is no longer supported.
