CATIA V5: File-Sync Enabled CATIA Worker Enhancements
Product: Windchill Workgroup Manager for CATIA V5
Release: 11.0 M010
Benefit
Enhancements have been made to the File-sync enabled CATIA worker regarding the logging of errors in the Windchill Visualization Services (WVS) job monitor and the subsequent handling of publication jobs in the queue when the CATIA worker cannot obtain a CATIA license. These enhancements benefit the CATIA administrator by eliminating the time and effort previously required for additional testing and investigation due to lack of information in the job monitor log and by preventing publication job failures when a CATIA license issue occurs.
Additional Details
When publishing CATIA V5 design data through the file synchronization-capable worker to Creo View, the CATIA administrator can observe status and error messages for the publication job in the Windchill Visualization Services (WVS) job monitor. Previously, the error messages displayed provided limited information about what went wrong (for example “Input File Not Found”). This required additional effort by the CATIA administrator to test and figure out the root cause of the error. The error logging has been improved with better job monitor messages that include the root causes for known publishing errors (for example, “Windchill authentication error, CATIA abstraction library version mismatch, network connection error”).
A Windchill Visualization Services (WVS) publication job failure occurs when the CATIA file sync worker cannot obtain a CATIA V5 license for a publishing job. Previously when that happened, WVS immediately started the subsequent publication jobs from the queue and caused the jobs to fail before the license issue could be resolved. Now when a CATIA V5 license cannot be obtained for a publishing job, either partially or fully, the administrator can set a timer to wait for some predefined amount of time (for example, 600 seconds), allowing the CATIA worker time to re-obtain a CATIA license.
