Searching for Archived Objects
The Windchill archive function allows you to select unused or rarely used data and move it out of the Windchill database into an alternate storage location. You can also retrieve the archived data and place it back in the online system when needed. The retrieved data will be as near to the original condition as possible. Once data is archived, it must be restored to access it in the Windchill system.
You can locate archived objects of a certain type (such as parts or documents) or those with particular attributes (such as version number, created by, file name) before you restore them to the database. Windchill enables you to locate archived objects from the Advanced Search page in the Navigator.
*
The ability to search within an archive is only available when Windchill Archive is installed.
The search criteria for archived objects are unique from other criteria available in the Advanced Search page. Use the following steps to search an archive using the criteria for archived objects:
1. Click Add in the Type field and select Archive as the only searchable type. Select Archive Criteria appears in the Criteria section.
2. Click Select Archive Criteria to open the Define Search Criteria for Archived Objects window.
