Searching for Objects
The Search window appears when you need to specify one or more objects as part of an action in Product Structure Explorer.
To find an object in the database, use the following procedure:
1. In the Context Name field, select a context (product or library) from the drop-down list (if you have been working in a context in this session of Product Structure Explorer, it appears in the drop-down), or click Locate to locating a context.
2. Enter additional search criteria for the part. Click the attribute details icon to modify the search criteria that display. For descriptions of the fields, see Part Attributes.
*
When you enter information in more than one field, the search looks for parts that match all values; parts that match one criterion but not another are excluded from the results. Use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard in the fields to modify your search. Also, for the Name and Number fields, you can select Not Equals from the drop-down list to exclude criteria from the results. In the Name or Number field, enter the appropriate values.
3. Click Search.
4. In the Results pane, two tabs appear: Results and Iteration History.
*
The results may be filtered based on association constraints, which determine valid associations among objects. See your administrator for more information.
From either tab you can do the following:
Highlight a part and click the details page icon for the selected part. This action navigates outside of Product Structure Explorer.
Click the attribute details icon in order to modify the columns that display in the table.
From the Results tab, select a part and click the Iteration History tab to view the iteration information for the selected part.
5. Select the desired object, and click OK.
