Uses Tab
On the Uses tab you can view, add, modify, or remove child parts of the selected part.
To add or modify child parts, you can use the icons described below, or in draft mode and in an annotation set, you can do the following:
Add existing child parts directly in the table cell.
Edit existing data directly in the table cell.

To avoid Out of Memory issues which could result in an unexpected system crash it is recommended that you increase the memory size for the Java applets from 512MB to 1024MB. To do this use the Preference Management utility to navigate to the Java Run Time Parameters for applets preference and change the default setting.
Actions
The following table explains the icons available from the toolbar on this tab:

Description
Insert Existing
Opens a new window where you search for an existing part to add as a child of the selected part.
Insert New
Opens a new window where you create a new part in the system and add the new part as a child of the selected part.
Insert From Recently Created
Opens anew window where you select a part that has been created in this session of a draft or annotation set but has not yet been saved to the database. This part is added as a child of the selected part in the structure
This action is available only in draft mode or in an annotation set.
Replace with Existing
Opens a new window where you search for an existing part to replace the selected part.
Replace with New
Opens a new window where you create a new part which replaces the selected part.
Replace with Recently Created
Opens a new window where you select a part that has been created in this session of your draft or annotation set but has not yet been saved to the database. This part replaces the selected part in the table.
This action is available only in draft mode or in an annotation set.
Replace with Alternate/Substitute
Displays any alternates or substitutes that have been defined for the object, which can be selected to replace the existing part.
Remove
Removes the selected part from the structure.
Cut
Places the selected part on the clipboard. The part cannot be removed from the assembly until it is pasted into a new assembly.

If the selected part cannot be removed, the system performs a copy.
Copy
Places the selected part on the clipboard, so the part can also be included in another assembly.
Paste
Places a part from the clipboard into the table.

This action is available only when a part has been cut or copied.
Revert
Undoes the change on the selected row. If more than one change exists on the selected row, you are prompted to select the changes you want to revert.
This action is available only in draft mode or in an annotation set.
Comments
Opens a new window where you can add a comment to one or more changes existing on the selected row of the table.
This action is available only in draft mode or in an annotation set.
Edit Column Attribute Values
Use to edit the columns that appear in the display.
Column Details
Opens a new window where you can select columns to display in the table as well as set column properties and their order.
Table View
To the right of the actions toolbar, a drop-down list appears. From this list, select from the following views to be used for displaying the parts:

View selections made from this drop-down list work independently from the navigation pane on the left.

Description
BOM
Displays child parts as a bill of materials.

If your site has created an options filter for the structure, the parts displayed are filtered based on the options filter.
Unfiltered BOM
If your site has created an options filter for the structure, this option appears in order to display all children.
Occurrences
Displays child parts in occurrences view. For more information, see About Occurrences and Reference Designators.
