If users are on different, but related servers and need to sign into ThingWorx, the authenticator extensions allow secure login from other applications or locations in a web browser. The ThingWorx authenticator extensions can be used to create custom authentication extensions for various types of authentication strategies, including basic user-password, single sign-on (SSO) access, certificate-based data decryption, and many others.

In Composer, a custom authenticator extension must be imported to configure a custom authentication strategy.
