Upgrading a ThingWorx eMessage Connector to Version 2.3.1
This topic explains how to upgrade a ThingWorx eMessage Connector from version 2.3.0 to version 2.3.1 when using the Connector in a ThingWorx Single-Server Environment and when using it in a ThingWorx High Availability Clustering environment. Before you begin, read the section, Best Practices for Upgrading.
Prerequisites
• ThingWorx Platform v.9.1.14 or later.
• eMessage Connector v.2.3.0.
• Connection Services Extension (CSE) v.2.3.0 is installed in ThingWorx.
• Axeda Compatibility Extension (ACE) v.5.0.1 is installed in ThingWorx.
• Remote Acess Extension (RAE) v. 3.1.7 is installed in ThingWorx.
If any of these prerequisites are not met, please follow the appropriate upgrade articles for ThingWorx and Axeda Compatibility Package before performing this upgrade.
Best Practices for Upgrading
1. Export your eMessage-related entities as a backup through the Composer Import/Export interface.
2. Perform ThingWorx Platform upgrades as necessary. (see Upgrading ThingWorx for more details).
3. Upgrade the eMessage Connector using the procedures below.

Downloading the Distribution Bundle
To download the distribution bundle for your operating system, follow these steps:
2. Select the Product Family, THINGWORX CONNECTION SERVICES.
3. On the download page for the ThingWorx Connection Services Product Family, the releases are numbered by the related release of ThingWorx Platform. To upgrade, expand the Release 9.3 node.
4. Expand the node, ThingWorx Axeda Compatibility Package, and then the node, Most Recent Datecode.
5. Click HTTPS to download the distribution bundle.
6. Extract the downloaded file to an appropriate location.
Upgrading the Extensions
The extensions in the ThingWorx Axeda Compatibility Package, the Axeda Compatibility Extension (ACE), Connection Services Extension (CSE), and Remote Access Extension (RAE), have been upgraded for this release.

This distribution bundle contains two versions of the Axeda Compatibility Extension. If you are running ThingWorx 9.2 or earlier, install version 5.x.x of the ACE Extension. If you are running ThingWorx 9.3 or above, install version 6.x.x of ACE.

Upgrading from v.2.3.0 to 2.3.1
These instructions explain how to upgrade the ThingWorx eMessage Connector from v.2.3.0 to v.2.3.1 when the eMessage Connector connects to a ThingWorx Platform single-server environment.
1. Stop the eMessage Connector that you want to upgrade.
2. Ensure that the CSE, ACE, and RAE extensions provided with the Axeda Compatibility Package, v.2.3.0, have been imported to the ThingWorx Platform. For assistance, refer to the section above, Upgrading a ThingWorx eMessage Connector to Version 2.2.0.
3. Restart the ThingWorx Platform to ensure that the entity changes required take place in the database.
4. Start the v.2.3.1 eMessage Connector. For assistance, refer to Starting the eMessage Connector and Running a Quick Test.
5. Verify that the eMessage Connector successfully connected to ThingWorx by confirming it appears in the ThingWorx Composer list of Connection Servers. In ThingWorx Composer, click the 
icon (Monitoring menu) and then select Connection Servers to display the page.

Refer to Setting Up Permissions and Visibility for the eMessage Connector. Running these scripts is required to grant runtime permissions to new services provided in this release and to re-apply permissions not preserved upon export/import for an upgrade.
7. Run the Smoke Test, as explained in Running the Smoke Test.
